Bisser Toshev is an established sports journalist with nearly 18 years of experience in the media. Since 2019 he has been the editor-in-chief of the leading sports website Gong.bg. He started his professional career in 2006. He was editor and deputy editor-in-chief at the Bulgarian edition of the Spanish football magazine Don Balon. For more than a decade he was also editor at Sportal.bg. During all these years Bisser Toshev established himself as a professional who is extremely dedicated to his work. He has a diverse experience and knowledge, and his name is associated with in-depth analyses on current sports topics.

This year, Gong.bg turns 17. What has been the success of the sports platform all these years?

– First and foremost to a lot of hard work, passion and dedication throughout these 17 years. This is the basis of professional success. We value and love our profession and what we do brings us satisfaction. Every day we go to work eagerly, charged with enthusiasm.

At Net Info and Gong.bg in particular, there are a few very important things that always keep us awake. These are the high standards we impose, our constant drive for development and the specific goals we set ourselves. Leading the way are the desire, ambition, will and perseverance to move forward. In fact, this is what unites us. We strive to be productive and when we experience difficulties, to look for the right solutions rather than explaining why things won’t work out.

How does a working day go in the Gong.bg editorial office? What accounts for the success of the sports platform all these years?

– Every day is different, but the working environment is always dynamic. On reflection, however, perhaps the more accurate question here is “how does a working day go in our editorial department”. Because, we have to meet the high expectations of our audience. It is for this reason that we follow live events, provide information and interesting news, analysis and videos from early in the morning until midnight, and even beyond. And our video team strives to be on the scene of every hot spot.

As we all know, Nova Broadcasting Group invests in quality sports content and offers Bulgarian audiences access to some of the most attractive championships worldwide. Our ambition is to integrate all this content into Gong.bg. This gives our users the opportunity to be the first to know all the interesting news, watch exciting reports and shows. There are two key spors events coming up in 2024 – UEFA EURO 2024 and the Summer Olympics in Paris. Nova Broadcasting Group has acquired the rights to the European Football Championship. How will Gong.bg cover both events?

– We are all very excited and looking forward to the those significant events, both of huge sporting and social importance. The European Championships will bring together the best teams from the Old Continent and the best athletes from all over the world. These are not just sporting events, but a symbol of human strength, will and ambition. Great sporting competitions show that, despite opposition and differences, nations can be united around a common great passion. And that is the phenomenon that brings people together – sport.

The focus on athletes at these major forums is immense and it is for this reason that, as well as demonstrating their potential, they need to set an example to the younger generation by their actions and behaviour.

During the upcoming European Championships and the Olympics in Paris, Gong.bg will aim to fully immerse football and sports fans in both competitions. To this end, we are preparing separate special sections dedicated to the upcoming events.

The fact that Nova Broadcasting Group has acquired the rights to UEFA EURO 2024 gives us the exclusive opportunity to broadcast live on Gong.bg all matches of the championship. And what are the most memorable moments in your work over these years?

-The most memorable moments are when we have the pleasure to cover the great successes of Bulgarian athletes. And when we have the feeling that we have helped the development of Bulgarian sport. Even with our critical analyses, constructive comments and bringing to light the existing problems, as a result of which they can be solved.

But the most significant and satisfying for us is when we receive positive feedback from the audience, which is the real evaluation of our work.
