Dilyana Popova: For 15 years now, Vesti.bg is the place where we find more stories, more analysis, more news
Dilyana Popova started her professional career in journalism 15 years ago, and for 10 years her passion has been criminal journalism. For 2 years, she has been part of Netinfo, a member of the United Group family. For a year, he has been the editor-in-chief of Vesti.bg, a site meeting the highest journalistic standards with responsibility and respect for readers.
15 years Vesti.bg is one of the most read news sites in Bulgaria, what do you think this is due to?
I am honored to be part of Net Info and United Group and to lead one of the most read, authoritative and recognizable news sites in Bulgaria.
The site’s success is a combination of many factors, including teamwork and professionalism.
I believe that Vesti.bg is one of the most read sites in Bulgaria because we manage to offer our audience a mix of the most important news from Bulgaria and the world, we present in-depth analyses of what is happening at the moment, which will affect the lives of each of us in the future, but we do not forget about the useful information and curious stories that fill the site with life. We are also proud of the fact that we have taught people to read more and longer texts, which goes against the current trends of fast information.
2023 was marked by the emergence of AI, which has increasingly entered various spheres of life. How has artificial intelligence changed work in the Vesti.bg editorial office?
In 2023, artificial intelligence changed the work of media around the world. The global trend has not passed us by. Vesti.bg is one of the first Bulgarian media outlets that have successfully implemented AI in their work. Despite the initial fear of the new and the unknown, eventually, the implementation of artificial intelligence in the work of Vesti.bg‘s editorial team led to more efficient and innovative delivery of news to users, while ensuring greater accuracy and reliability of information. With the help of artificial intelligence, Vesti.bg editors focused on key tasks such as content planning, editorial strategy development and social media management. But our plans don’t stop there. AI is about to make its debut in another aspect of the site.
What new things happened on Vesti.bg in the past year?
In the past year, Vesti.bg became part of Google’s News Showcase platform for sharing news, which is attended by the largest and most reputable media outlets in the world and in the country.
We also tackled the difficult task of covering Local Elections 2023.
We launched a new section on the Musicology website. Behind it is DJ Marten Roberto, who with extreme passion and professionalism tells our readers every week about the best music artists on the national scene.
We also continued to work on the already familiar to our readers sections of the site – “Cars”, “Technology” and “Cinema”. Our authors are presenting the most important and interesting topics and developing our unique content.
Which Vesti arouses more interest among the readers of the site – the good or the bad?
As for which news is more popular, there is no clear answer. Usually, bad news arouses more interest among the readers of Vesti.bg and the media in general. People are often more curious about scandals, shocking news and extraordinary events that cause emotions and discussions. However, good news also has its audience that enjoys positive and inspiring stories. In Vesti.bg we have a special section “The Inspired”, where we can find exactly those energizing stories that motivate and make us believe in the good. At Vesti.bg we strive to offer balanced content that reflects the diversity of our readers’ interests.
What do you wish for the team of the site and the readers?
I wish the Vesti.bg team many more years of successful work, innovation and quality and fair presentation of news. I wish the readers of Vesti.bg to continue to be informed, inspired and engaged with the current events and topics that the site offers.
Happy 15th birthday, Vesti.bg!
